THE CREATIVE PROCESS

INTRODUCTION
The introduction to the project includes an overview, learning targets, and launch.

INSPIRATION
Next, we mentally stimulate your learners with primary sourced readings, songs, master artworks and short video clips in the form of expert files.

INCUBATION
Then, we incubate, or allow time for ideas to develop. Reading, sketching, or exercising are just a few paths through this step.

ILLUMINATION
The planning step allows learners to carve out space to illuminate their creative solution to the project. Thumbnail sketches and refined sketches happen here.
05
REFLECTION
In this step, a learner shares their thumbnail sketches and refined sketches through an in-process community critique. This step helps to check if the compelling ideas are being clearly communicated visually.
06
REFINEMENT
The refinement step provides space for the learner to refine the work and polish the project in order to exhibit the work with intention in the last step.
07
CELEBRATION
The goal of the celebration step is to reach a point of completion, and to celebrate! This step is supported by project rubrics which inform level of craft, elements and principles of art and design, and project learning targets.

EXHIBITION
In the final stage of the creative process, learners and young artists share their work through an exhibition. This can look like an on-line exhibit, in-person classroom hosted art show, or entering the work into a competition.
